This album is an extremely accomplished work, delivering even more than the earlier releases by Sexual Jeremy suggested they were capable of. Every song feels flooded with ideas, deconstructing rock music formulas while effortlessly inventing new ones. The band often takes what would usually be mistakes - false starts, bad connections, instruments falling out of time - and uses them as parts of the composition. At times, listening to this can feel like watching a scene from the Drunken Master kung-fu film. The instruments can sound like they're tripping and stumbling, but at the same time casually hit an impossible bullseye and then execute a precision acrobatic move without losing momentum. Sexual Jeremy obviously take some influence from US Maple, but have also evolved far beyond that influence. They might also remind listeners of Polvo with their unlimited supply of original twisty-turny guitar parts. Sexual Jeremy makes fresh rock music sound easy, but you know what they say: if it was easy then everyone would be doing it, and precious few are.
